Smoking prevention

2022

I created posters and illustrations promoting smoking cessation for the Landerneau hospital (France) as part of the « Mois sans Tabac » (No Tobacco Month). I opted for very simplified designs. For the first concept, I recreated lungs: one in good health, with butterflies coming to pollinate it, and the other is sick, slowly decaying, with its particles transforming into butterflies that fly toward the sky. « Un simple geste suffit » in French means « A simple gesture is all it takes. » Placed next to the broken cigarette, it represents a change in behavior: the person has made their decision and will quit smoking. For the second design, I was inspired by pixelated video games where life gauges are represented by hearts: empty when the corresponding life is depleted and red and full when the player still has a life remaining. This symbolizes the smoker’s one life, they only have one chance. This is precisely what « Vous n’avez qu’une vie. Ne la gaspillez pas! » (You only have one life. Don’t waste it!) means. For the third prevention poster, I focused on environmental protection as an additional reason to quit smoking. The text « Si ce n’est pas pour vous, faites-le pour la planète » (If not for yourself, do it for the planet) encourages people to stop smoking and provides real motivation for smokers to quit. For the final design, I drew inspiration from iconic « western » posters typically seen in western movies. The unique feature here is that, instead of a face, there’s a cigarette in the center of the poster.
